The spinning process in the Lighting Product production process is a metal forming technology that gradually deforms a sheet metal into the desired shape by means of rotational force and pressure. This process is often used in the manufacture of Lamps and Lanterns to produce metal parts with rotational symmetrical structures such as lampshades, bases, and lens, which have the characteristics of high precision and high efficiency. The following are the key points of the spinning process in the production of Lighting Product:
Rotational forming: The sheet metal is fixed on a high-speed rotating mandrel (tooling), and the material is gradually extended along the surface of the tooling by applying pressure to the material through a rotating wheel or roller.
Cold/hot forming: cold spinning (operation at room temperature) is mostly used in the production of Lighting Fixture, which is suitable for materials with good ductility such as aluminum, copper, and stainless steel; Special materials or complex shapes may require heating (hot spinning).

a). Material preparation
Select metal plates (such as aluminum, copper, stainless steel), and the thickness is selected according to the design requirements of the lamp (usually 0.5~3mm).
The sheet is cut into a round shape or the desired initial shape.
b). Mold design
The shape of the mandrel (main mold) is consistent with the target shape of the luminaire and is usually made of steel or aluminum alloy.
Auxiliary molds (tail top, pressure plate) are used to fix the plates.
c). Spin molding
The plate is fixed on the mandrel and rotates with the spindle at high speed.
The rotary wheel (tool head) applies pressure to the sheet along a preset path, which is gradually pressed into the mold to form.
It is completed in multiple passes (coarse → delicate spin) to avoid excessive stretching and cracking of the material.
d). Post-processing
Trimming: Removing excess trimming.
Surface treatment: polishing, painting, anodizing (e.g. aluminium lampshades) or electroplating (e.g. copper lamps).
3. Typical application scenarios
Lampshades: metal shades for Chandelier Light and Wall Sconce (e.g. aluminum conical shades, copper art lampshades).
Reflector: parabolic reflector for downlights and spotlights, which requires high-precision optical curved surfaces.
Decorative parts: metal decorative rings, lamp holder covers and other special-shaped parts of lamps.
Lamp components: reflectors and decorative rings for automotive headlamps (high surface finish required).

4. Key Considerations
Material selection: Aluminum (1060, 3003 series) and pure copper have the best ductility, stainless steel (e.g. 304) needs to control the spinning speed.
Mold accuracy: The surface finish of the mandrel directly affects the appearance of the finished lamp.
Process parameters: The feed rate and pressure of the rotary wheel need to match the material characteristics to avoid wrinkling or cracking.
Lubrication: Use special lubricating oil to reduce the friction between the rotor and the plate and improve the surface quality.
